Job Description

American Traveler is hiring a skilled Operating Room RN with proficiency in DaVinci robotics and at least one year of strong OR experience for a night shift assignment.

Responsibilities

  • Work in a hospital-based Operating Room department with 20 OR suites, including General, CVOR, Hybrid Endo/Vascular, Trauma, and Outpatient cases
  • Night shift schedule is 12 hours (1845-0715), 6 days on and 8 days off, Thursday to Tuesday
  • Primary surgical services include General, Neuro, Ortho, Peds, ENT, Trauma, Urology, and Cardiovascular surgeries such as CABG and TAVR
  • Patient population includes high acuity cases: neuro surgeries, orthopedic procedures, trauma cases (gunshot wounds, stabbings, motor vehicle accidents), GYN, GI, GU, and emergency general surgeries
  • Robotic surgery performed using DaVinci XI system, primarily in GYN, General, and Urology cases
  • No transplant, burns, or adult ophthalmology cases
  • Epic is used for EMR, Alaris for IV pumps, and Pyxis for medication dispensing
  • No on-call duties for night shift, but trauma call responsibilities may be assigned
  • Main responsibilities include circulating and/or scrubbing on a wide variety of surgical procedures, prioritizing robotic, neuro, trauma, and emergency cases
  • All CVOR RNs may be expected to float to General Surgery as needed
  • Support staff available 24/7, including RT, Hospitalist, and Intensivist teams
  • Up to 5 days of requested time off are allowed; any missed hours must be made up by extending the assignment
  • Scrubs are provided by the facility
  • Free parking available in a parking garage

  • No phones allowed on the unit and breaks are required to be taken
  • Initial orientation includes 1-2 days of general hospital orientation and one full shift on the OR unit, with additional days as needed
  • Holiday coverage may be required per unit scheduling

Requirements

  • Active WA or compact RN license required at time of consideration
  • Current BLS certification required
  • Minimum 1 year of strong OR nursing experience required
  • Experience circulating and/or scrubbing in the OR required
  • Demonstrated proficiency with DaVinci robotic cases is a must
  • Ability to effectively assist with blood administration (Belmont/Intraoperative blood salvage), arterial lines, and wound vacs
  • Epic EMR experience preferred
  • Traveler Telemetry Competency must be completed and passed prior to start
  • First-time travelers are accepted with strong OR experience
