Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg position in a correctional setting, requiring an active IL RN license and prior acute care experience.

Responsibilities

• Work in a correctional facility providing acute Med/Surg nursing care
• Three 12-hour shifts per week, 11:00am to 11:30pm, with every other weekend required
• Mandatory floating to any unit or Cook facility within 50 miles as needed
• No block scheduling or special scheduling requests allowed
• Uses Cerner for charting
• Navy blue scrubs are required
• Free parking is available on a first-come, first-served basis
• No more than 5 days of requested time off, with a maximum of 2 consecutive days; no RTO approved for weekends, holidays, or the day before/after a holiday
• Failure to float or call out on a holiday may result in contract cancellation
• Strict compliance with onboarding lab work timeframes

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required at time of consideration
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• At least 2 years of recent acute care experience in Med/Surg required
• Correctional nursing experience preferred
• Must reside within a 75-mile radius of the facility
• Proof of COVID vaccination is required
