Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry Float Pool night shift position requiring a WV or compact license and ACLS/BLS certifications.

Responsibilities

• Work in an acute care hospital setting within a Med/Surg/Telemetry Float Pool
• Frequent floating to units including 6N (36 beds), 7N (29 beds), 4N, 5S, 6S, and Critical Care
• Patient population includes cardiac, pulmonary, renal, orthopedic, and oncology cases (chemo administered by perm staff only)
• Nurse to patient ratios typically 1:5-6, with occasional 1:7 depending on acuity toward end of shift
• Telemetry monitoring required using Phillips equipment; RNs must interpret strips
• 12-hour night shifts with every-other-weekend Sat/Sun schedule
• Float pool RNs are the first to float as needed
• Epic EMR system is used
• Charge nurse is available 24/7; day charge does not take patients, night charge does
• CNAs are used on all units for additional support
• CPAP and BiPAP are used and managed by respiratory therapists
• Royal blue scrubs required for nurses
• Holiday coverage is included in the rotation with permanent staff
• 1-2 shifts of unit-specific orientation with a preceptor provided
• Applicants must live at least 50 miles from the facility to be considered (no local travelers)

Requirements

• Active RN license in WV or compact state required
• Minimum 2 years of acute care RN experience required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Must pass a cardiac rhythm exam as part of onboarding
• Ability to read and interpret telemetry strips required
• Must not have been employed by any WVU Medicine location in the past 2 years
• Travelers may not exceed 1 year cumulative employment with WVU facilities without a 2-year break
