Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Float Pool position requiring WV or compact RN license and strong stepdown skills.

Responsibilities

• Work in a Level 1 trauma acute care hospital resource pool
• Float to all Med/Surg, Stepdown, Tele, Neuro, Ortho, Trauma, General Medicine, and Oncology units
• Patient ratios are 1:3 for Stepdown units and 1:6 for Med/Surg/Tele units
• Assignments include units such as neuro stepdown, surgical oncology, ortho/neuro, long-term antibiotic infusion, and trauma/general surgery
• Uses Epic charting system; prior Epic experience is required
• Typical work schedule includes 12-hour day shifts with weekend day shift clusters (Friday, Saturday, Sunday or Saturday, Sunday, Monday), and holidays as scheduled
• Float as needed to any of the designated hospital units based on staffing requirements
• Royal blue scrubs are required for this position
• Stepdown and Med/Surg/Tele units can have up to 34 beds each
• Holiday coverage is expected as scheduled
• First-time travelers will be considered
• Pass/fail EKG testing may be required for stepdown assignments
• Must provide two professional references for consideration
• Not eligible for local candidates living within 50 miles of the facility

Requirements

• Active WV or compact RN license required
• Minimum of 2 years RN experience
• Current AHA BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Prior Level 1 trauma and travel experience preferred
• Must be well-rounded with strong skills in stepdown, neuro, ortho, trauma, general medicine, and oncology
• Candidates must live at least 50 miles from the facility for consideration
• Previous permanent RNs must have at least a 2-year break from employment at WVU system facilities
• Previous travelers who have worked a full year at WVU system must be gone for 2 years before returning
