Job Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ER RN for night shifts in a busy Level III trauma center requiring a WA or compact RN license and at least three years of high-acuity emergency experience.

Responsibilities

• Position is in a hospital Emergency Department setting with 34 ED beds
• Level III trauma center caring for patients from neonates to geriatrics, including pediatric medical and trauma, stroke, cardiac, behavioral health, and substance use cases
• Patient ratios range from 1:3-5 depending on acuity
• Busiest ED in the state with 200-250 patients seen per day
• Shift is 12-hour nights
• Weekend rotation is every other weekend with flexibility required
• No floating required
• No on-call responsibilities
• Uses Epic EMR, prior experience strongly preferred
• Barcode medication administration and Point of Care Labs used
• Scrub color is any, but no logos are allowed
• Daily duties include triage, medication administration, trauma support, and care of diverse emergency cases including behavioral health and substance use disorders
• Must be able to stabilize and prepare patients for transfer for specialized care such as neurosurgery and high-acuity pediatric trauma
• May be required to work back-to-back weekends, though this is rare
• Must wear scrubs in any color without logos
• Team-based environment offering a structured zone approach to ER care

Requirements

• Active WA or compact RN license required
• Minimum of 3 years' recent experience in a large, high-acuity ED
• Current certifications required: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS or ENPC, and TNCC
• Experience with barcode medication administration, managing medication drips, blood product administration, and triage
• Must pass a hospital Triage Test before performing triage duties
• Ability to set up chest tubes, arterial lines, assist with trauma and code cases, splinting, bipap/vent support
• Good understanding of ESI triage
• Pediatric emergency medicine experience highly preferred
• Epic EMR experience is strongly preferred
• First time travelers are not accepted for this role
