Job Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a PACU position in Hawaii requiring a current HI RN license and critical care or PACU nursing experience.

Responsibilities

• Work in a hospital-based Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU)
• Patient care includes pre-op, Phase I, and Phase II recovery after surgery
• Uses equipment such as Meditech, PCA Pumps, Pyxis, Braun IV Pumps, Cryocuff, SCD's, Bair PAWS Warmers, HP and Phillips Monitors
• Shifts are variable, including 8, 10, or 12 hours covering days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays
• On-call required 0-3 times per month including 8-hour nights and 24-hour shifts on weekends or holidays
• Provide care for patients in pre-op and all phases of post-anesthesia recovery, assessing for stability and complications
• Advanced knowledge of anesthesiology and critical care skills needed
• Candidates should demonstrate strong critical thinking and surgical nursing expertise
• All travelers must report to Employee Health in Hawaii 48-72 hours prior to the assignment start date for clearance
• Proof of flu vaccination or a facility-approved medical/religious exception is required before contract start; vaccination can be provided at health clearance
• Plan to arrive in Hawaii by the Thursday before the assignment starts to complete required health checks

Requirements

• Active HI RN license required by assignment start date
• Minimum 2 years of critical care RN experience in a hospital setting (ER or ICU may substitute for PACU experience)
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications from the American Heart Association required
• PALS certification from the American Heart Association is recommended and may be required for certain positions
• Other specialty certifications such as NIHSS and TNCC are preferred and may be required for specific roles
