Job Description

American Traveler is seeking a Registered Nurse with ortho and tele experience for a fast-paced Med/Surg Tele unit, requiring a NC or compact RN license and Epic proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Work in a Med/Surg Telemetry unit within a hospital setting
• Primary patient population includes orthopedic, neuro spine, med-surg, and post-surgical cases
• Nurse-to-patient ratios are typically 5-6:1, with potential to flex up to 7:1 in extreme cases
• 12-hour day shifts with options for 36 or 48 hours per week
• Every other weekend required, with makeup required if a weekend shift is missed
• Block scheduling options may be available (F/S/S or S/S/M)
• Floating to other med-surg units within the facility is required
• Uses Epic EMR, and Epic experience is required
• Unit is fast-paced and focuses on ortho and spine patients, requiring strong pain management skills
• All units care for COVID positive patients unless transferred to ICU
• No holiday RTO approved for this contract
• Maximum of 7 days RTO for auto offer positions
• No RTO changes or requests after booking are permitted
• Travelers are expected to stay up-to-date and proactive with pain and patient care management
• First-time travelers with Epic experience will be considered

Requirements

• Active NC or compact RN license
• Minimum of 2 years RN experience with significant ortho experience
• Current BCLS and NIHSS certifications
• Epic EMR experience required
• IV start and telemetry skills required
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start
• First-time travelers accepted if Epic experience is present
• ACLS, charge nurse, or Level I trauma experience preferred
