Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN for a night shift position requiring strong neuro and critical care skills, with a valid NJ or compact RN license.

Responsibilities

• Work in the ICU of a hospital setting
• Night shifts, three 12-hour shifts per week (19:00–07:15)
• Patient ratios are typically 1:1-3 in critical care and 1:4-6+ if floated to other units
• Patient population includes acute renal failure, GI surgery, CVAs, TBIs, and vented patients
• Care for post-neuro surgical patients, utilize lumbar drains, EVD, and manage vents
• Specialized procedures include Pulmonary Artery Line/Swan Ganz monitoring, TAVI/TAVR, CVVHD/CRRT, and strong IV skillset
• Floating to additional units may be required based on hospital needs and skill set
• Epic EMR is used
• No fresh heart cases are assigned
• Every other weekend is required
• First-time travelers are accepted
• Navy blue scrubs are required
• Locals are accepted at the same rate
• Holiday and block scheduling requests are not available

Requirements

• Active NJ or compact RN license at time of consideration
• Minimum 1.5 years of recent ICU or critical care experience
• Neuro ICU or SICU experience required
• Current certifications in BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
• Strong EKG interpretation and critical IV skills required
• Experience with Pulmonary Artery Line/Swan Ganz, TAVI/TAVR, insulin protocols, and CVVHD/CRRT required
• IABP, Impella, or LVAD experience preferred
• Familiarity with Epic EMR preferred
• Must not have worked at RWJBH health system within the past year
