Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cath Lab Pre/Post Recovery position requiring a WA or compact RN license and ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications.

Responsibilities

Work in the Cath Lab Pre/Post Recovery area of an acute care hospital
Handles cardiac cath, complex PCI, electrophysiology, interventional radiology, and peripheral vascular cases
Unit includes 16 beds and a radial lounge with 6-7 recovery chairs, typically averaging 30 cases per day
Recovery unit operates Monday through Friday from 5:00 AM to 9:30 PM
Common shift options are 3x12s (6:30 AM–7:00 PM), 4x10s (6:30 AM–5:00 PM), 9:00 AM–5:30 PM, 6:00 AM–6:00 PM, 7:00 AM–7:00 PM, and 1:00 PM–9:30 PM
On-call is required 4-7 days per month by sign up, with a 60-minute (preferably 30) response time for call
No regular floating unless for emergency response
EMR is Epic and medication administration uses Pyxis
Responsible for pre-admission, pre-procedure, and post-procedure patient care for various cardiac and vascular interventions
Team includes a daily staff of 16 RNs and a lead charge nurse, with strong support from 24/7 on-call cardiologists, RT, SWAT IV team, and pharmacy
Hospital-issued surgical scrubs are provided as dress code
On-call coverage is required for holidays, otherwise holidays are off
Unit offers a busy, multispecialty environment on a modern campus
First-time travelers are welcome and receive less than one week of orientation if competent

Requirements

Active WA or compact RN license required at time of consideration
Minimum 2 years of recent experience in Cath Lab or similar cardiac setting
Required certifications: ACLS, BLS (AHA), and NIHSS
Experience with Epic EMR and Pyxis medication system preferred
Must provide 2 recent professional references: one supervisor within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor within the last 3 years
Copy of valid driver's license required for consideration
