Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Transitional Care/Skilled Nursing position caring for post-surgical and geriatric patients, requiring a WV or compact RN license and BLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Work in a hospital-based skilled nursing and transitional care unit
• Unit specializes in post-acute, geriatric, and post-surgical rehabilitation cases
• 32-bed unit with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:9-12
• Day shift position with 12-hour shifts and rotating weekends and holidays
• No floating required
• Uses Epic EMR; prior experience is helpful but not required
• Royal blue scrubs required for this unit
• Care for post-op orthopedic patients (hips, knees, shoulders) as well as individuals recovering from illnesses like pneumonia and CHF
• Focus on restorative care and progressive rehabilitation to support optimal patient recovery and function
• Unit has designated charge nurse, IV team support, and 24/7 respiratory therapy and pharmacy services
• Short unit-specific orientation (1-2 shifts) provided
• Rotating holiday coverage required
• Returning travelers to the health system must have a 2-year break before reapplying
• Travelers may not work within WVU facilities for longer than one cumulative year without a subsequent 2-year break

Requirements

• Active WV or compact state RN license
• Current BLS certification required
• Minimum of 2 years RN experience
• Experience in long-term care or skilled nursing strongly preferred
• Compliant with the 50-mile radius rule for eligibility
• Candidates must submit an unexpired driver’s license
• No false nails allowed while on duty
