Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a PCU position on a busy surgical oncology unit requiring at least 2 years of experience and OH or compact RN licensure.

Responsibilities

• Work on a mixed acuity unit serving both PCU and Med Surg patients
• Care for adult and geriatric oncology surgical patients with diagnoses including breast, thyroid, melanoma, hepatobiliary, colorectal, and reconstructive cases
• Special procedures include chemotherapy, blood transfusions, IV antibiotics, insulin and heparin drips, and management of oncologic emergencies
• Staffing ratios aim for 1:4, may flex to 1:5
• Variable day and night shifts as part of a 12-hour rotating schedule, with shift assignments reviewed every 4 weeks
• Self-scheduling is available; requests are submitted prior to final scheduling
• Weekend work based on unit needs
• EMR is Epic; prior experience preferred
• One week orientation is held Mon-Fri on dayshift, followed by 36 hours on-unit with a preceptor
• Focus on infection prevention protocols and patient fall reduction
• Responsibilities include care for surgical oncology populations and management of chemotherapy and complex drips
• No set or blocked scheduling provided
• First time travelers are accepted

Requirements

• Active OH or compact RN license required
• Minimum of 2 years recent PCU or related experience
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• ONS Chemo certification preferred but not required
