Job Description

American Traveler is seeking a Cath Lab Technologist with at least 2 years of cardiac and interventional experience and active RCIS, BLS, and ACLS certifications.

Responsibilities

• Work in a Level II trauma acute care setting within a cardiac cath lab department
• Department includes 7 procedure rooms: 4 Cath Lab/EP and 3 IR/Vascular
• Average of 20+ cases per day across all rooms
• Patient population presents with diagnoses including LHC, RHC, PCI, structural interventions, Watchman, Impella, IABP, IFR, FFR, IVUS, STEMI, rotational atherectomy, and laser procedures
• Merge and Cerner EMR systems used; experience with Cerner preferred as transition to Epic is planned
• Schedule consists of either 4x10 hour day shifts (7:00-17:30 with rotating day off) plus call, or 5x8 hour day shifts (7:00-15:30)
• Call involves 3 weekday shifts and approximately every third weekend; 30-minute call response time required
• Floating to hybrid vascular cases may be required
• Duties include suite preparation, radiation safety setup, calibration and troubleshooting of fluoroscopy and hemodynamics monitoring, scrubbing in for cases, sterile table setup, assisting with guidewire manipulation, device exchange, catheter placement, balloon and stent deployment, managing radiation dose and imaging, room turnover, and sheath removals
• Team structure typically includes 1 RN and 3 techs in Cath Lab; EP lab staffed by 3-4 person teams; IR supported by anesthesia for neuro cases
• STEMI call team comprises 1 RN and 3 techs
• Orientation consists of 2-3 full days of training and shadowing, with buddy call in week two and independent call responsibility after
• Previously employed staff must have been separated for at least 6 months and require hospital approval to return
• All clinicians must clock in and out per facility policy
• Scrubs are provided; personal scrub caps may be worn
• Holiday call coverage may be required
• Local candidates within 80 miles are considered local and subject to a lower rate

Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years' experience in a cardiac cath lab setting
• Current ACLS and BLS (AHA) certifications required
• Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) certification via CCI is required
• Strong proficiency in scrubbing and assisting with diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures
• License required if applicable and must be active by start date
• Two professional references required: one supervisor within past 12 months and one peer or supervisor from past 3 years in specialty
