Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position in a Level I Trauma Center, requiring a MI RN license and trauma experience.

Responsibilities

  • Work in the Emergency Department of a Level I Trauma Center, Stroke Center, Heart Center, and Pediatric Emergency Department
  • Care for adult and pediatric emergency cases with potential floating to pediatric unit
  • Typical nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:5-6, but may reach up to 1:8 during peak periods or holidays
  • Night shift schedule (3x12 hours; 19:00-07:30) with weekend work required (3 weekends per 4-week schedule, variable days)
  • No on-call responsibilities
  • Role involves providing advanced emergency care in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment
  • First-time travelers may be considered for this position
  • Pre-employment modules must be completed before start
  • Returning staff must have a 12-month gap since previous core employment to be eligible
  • All time off requests (RTO) must be submitted with application and are limited to 5 days per assignment; no RTO allowed from 3/27-4/12
  • Local candidates are accepted at the same rate as travelers

Requirements

  • Active Michigan RN license required by start date (MI compact not accepted)
  • Current BLS (AHA), ACLS, PALS, TNCC, and NIH certification required
  • ENPC certification preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of recent ER nursing experience in a Level I Trauma setting required
  • Proficient in the interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
  • EPIC charting experience required
  • Ability to provide proof of high school education
  • Experience with continuous IV sedation, procedural sedation administration, and triage preferred
