Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiovascular ICU position requiring cardiac ICU experience and a compact or MO license.

Responsibilities

• Position is in the Cardiovascular ICU of a short-term acute care, Magnet, Level I Trauma teaching hospital
• 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratio with adult cardiac critical care population including acute heart failure, CHF, cardiogenic shock, post-cardiac arrest, and pre-heart transplant patients
• Specialized procedures include ventilator management, arterial line management, pulmonary artery catheters, pacemakers, impellas, balloon pumps, and LVADs
• Night shifts (3x12 hours, 19:00-07:30) with every other weekend required
• Travelers may float within the service line as needed based on facility needs
• Uses EPIC EMR; EPIC experience may be required
• Assignment length is 16 weeks preferred, but 13-week contracts accepted
• No on-call required
• Responsibilities include management of critically ill cardiovascular patients, arterial and central lines, vasoactive drips, PA/TVP catheter monitoring, pacemakers, and dialysis
• Navy blue scrubs required
• EPIC charting will be used for all documentation
• Paid orientation modules completed pre-start (up to 16 hours)
• No neuro ICU coverage required
• Maximum of two RTO requests with no more than 40 total hours of requested time off during contract
• No RTO permitted during the first week of orientation
• Permanent employees must wait one year before returning as travelers
• Travelers can remain up to 18 months, with a required 3-month break before returning

Requirements

• Active MO or Compact RN license required; pending license accepted for consideration
• Minimum 2 years of recent Cardiac/CVICU ICU experience required
• Certifications required: ACLS and BLS
• Proficiency with ventilator and advanced cardiac device management including LVADs, impellas, and balloon pumps
• Must pass Relias EKG exam prior to start
• Must reside at least 75 miles from the facility; locals not accepted
• First-time travelers not accepted
