Job Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an inpatient rehab night shift position treating neurological and trauma patients, requiring an active WV or compact RN license.

Responsibilities

• Work in a 24-bed inpatient rehab unit at a hospital Level 1 Trauma Center
• Patient population includes cerebrovascular disease, traumatic brain injury (TBI), spinal cord injury (SCI), amputees, deconditioning, and neuromuscular diseases
• Patient ratio is 1:5-6 on nights
• 3x12 hour night shifts (7p-7a) with weekday and every other weekend requirements
• Nurses may float within scope as needed
• Block scheduling may be accommodated upon discussion
• Uses Cerner EMR system
• Care provided as part of a multidisciplinary team including a physiatrist, NP, therapists, nurses, and a social worker
• Therapy sessions provided to patients 3 hours a day, Monday through Friday
• Typical length of stay is around two weeks
• Orientation is held every other Thursday
• Every other weekend coverage required
• No on-call responsibilities
• First-time travelers are accepted
• Scrubs must be royal blue, white, or a combination
• Free parking is available for travelers
• Flu vaccination required during flu season unless documented medical exemption is provided
• Perm employees must wait two years post-employment to be eligible to return as a traveler
• Candidates must reside at least 100 miles from facility (75-99 miles considered for approval)

Requirements

• Active WV or compact RN license required (may apply with pending license but must be active prior to start)
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• At least 1 year of inpatient rehab or specialty experience required
• BLS certification from AHA required
• Charge experience preferred
• Acute care rehab experience preferred
