Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Med Surg RN with a strong foundation in urology/nephrology and charge experience for a night shift assignment in Illinois.

Responsibilities

• Work in an acute care hospital setting on a 25-bed urology/nephrology medical surgical unit
• Night shift schedule with 3x12 or 4x12 hour shifts from 18:45 to 07:15
• Average daily census of 23 patients
• Every other weekend required
• Floating to other Med Surg units within scope may be required
• No on-call responsibilities
• Cerner EMR experience required
• Charge nurse duties will be assigned as needed during the assignment
• Must adhere to isolation precautions and infection control best practices
• Will participate in management of patients with complex renal and genitourinary conditions
• Required to wear any solid color scrubs
• Parking permit is provided at no cost and will be organized during orientation
• This is a Magnet designated, Level I trauma facility
• First-time travelers with strong Med/Surg backgrounds are welcome to apply
• Up to 5 days of requested time off (RTO) is allowed

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required or must be in application process
• Minimum of 2 years of medical/surgical nursing experience required
• BLS certification required
• Experience in MS/Tele, cardiac monitoring, and emergency response with rapid response teams required
• Strong skills in pre/post hemodialysis, renal failure management, and genitourinary/renal cases required
• IV therapy/phlebotomy skills including blood product administration, central and peripheral line care, PICC management, and IV starts required
• Experience with heparin administration, and respiratory care including chest tubes, CPAP/BiPAP, HFNC, and portable oxygen
• Knowledge in wound care and use of wound vacs required
• Cerner charting system experience required
