Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Orthopedics assignment on an acute Ortho-Neuro unit, requiring a WV or compact license and EPIC experience.

Responsibilities

• Position is in an acute care Med/Surg Ortho-Neuro unit with 33 private beds
• Serves patients undergoing elective orthopedic surgeries, neuro-surgeries, and general med/surg cases
• Typical nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:6
• 12-hour day shifts with rotating weekends and holidays
• Travelers will be scheduled based on unit needs and may float to other Med/Surg units as required
• Remote telemetry monitoring is available; RNs are not required to read strips
• Uses EPIC for charting and documentation
• Patient Care Tech support is available; staffing varies based on unit census
• Royal blue scrubs are required as part of the dress code
• RNs are not required to titrate drips; common IV therapies involve fluids and PCA pumps only
• 1 day of EPIC orientation and 1 day of unit orientation with a preceptor are provided
• Travelers are the first to float and may be assigned to any Med/Surg unit based on need
• Travelers may be scheduled for holiday shifts if there is insufficient permanent staff coverage
• Returning travelers must have a 2-year break from any WVU Medicine location before reapplying and cannot exceed 1 year of cumulative experience at WVU facilities without a 2-year break
• No local travelers are accepted; must live at least 50 miles from facility
• Highlighted time-off requests should be communicated during the prescreen process

Requirements

• Active WV or compact RN license required
• Current BLS certification (AHA) required
• Minimum 2 years of relevant RN experience required
• Experience with orthopedic patients and PCA pumps required
• Experience using EPIC EMR is required
• Must provide an unexpired copy of current driver’s license for consideration
