Job Description
American Traveler is hiring an RN for an Intermediate Care Unit (IMC) night shift position requiring recent ICU experience and North Carolina or compact RN licensure.
Responsibilities
- Work in the Intermediate Critical Care Unit (IMC) of a hospital setting
- Patient population includes DKA, sickle cell, sepsis, respiratory distress, pneumonia, heart failure, and stroke
- Nurse to patient ratio is 1:4 in IMC and 1:6 when floating to Med Surg
- Specialized procedures include titration of cardiac drips, feeding tube management, and use of rapid response teams
- Uses Bipap, Cpap, Optiflow, Pyxis, and Epic systems
- Shift is 12-hour nights, 18:45 - 07:15, with at least four weekend shifts per six-week schedule
- Self-scheduling with manager approval
- Floating required as needed to Med Surg units
- The unit operates as part of the hospital's Rapid Response team
- Primary responsibilities include advanced monitoring, cardiac drips, and managing complex patient needs
- Orientation on unit is 36 hours
- Navy or navy and white scrubs required
- No RTO (requested time off) allowed after booking and all missed shifts must be made up within the same week or by extending the contract
- Locals are accepted at the same rate
Requirements
- Active NC or compact RN license
- Minimum of 2 years recent ICU experience required
- ACLS and BCLS certifications required
- Must pass EKG testing prior to start
- Experience with IV starts, telemetry, titration of cardiac drips, heparin protocols, and cardiac telemetry required
- First-time travelers are welcome
