Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a night shift inpatient rehab position requiring a WV or compact RN license and strong acute rehab background.

Responsibilities

• Work in a 24-bed inpatient rehab unit within a hospital setting
• Patient population includes cerebrovascular disease, traumatic brain injury, amputees, spinal cord injuries, deconditioning, and neurological diseases
• Typical ratios are 1:5-6 on nights
• Night shifts, 3x12 or 4x12 hours (7pm-7am), including weekdays and every other weekend
• No call requirement
• Floating within scope may be required to meet facility needs
• Block scheduling may be considered
• Uses Cerner EMR
• Collaborate closely within a multidisciplinary team including physiatrist, NP, therapists, and social worker
• Patient length of stay is typically around 2 weeks
• Therapy sessions for patients are scheduled for 3 hours/day, Monday through Friday
• First-time travelers are accepted
• Previous permanent employees must wait 2 years before returning as travelers
• Orientation is offered every other week on Thursday
• Required to wear royal blue or white scrubs or combination
• COVID-19 vaccine is not required
• Flu shot required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31) unless medically exempt
• Free parking is provided in the parking garage
• Radius rule: candidates within 100 miles are eligible; those 75–99 miles may be considered upon approval
• No restrictions on requested time off; RTO must be included in application and discussed during interview

Requirements

• Active WV or compact state RN license required at start (may submit with pending license)
• Minimum 2 years RN experience required
• At least 1 year of inpatient rehab RN experience required
• Charge experience preferred
• BLS certification (AHA required)
• Acute care rehab experience preferred
