Job Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced PACU RN with a NM or compact state license and at least two years of recent PACU experience.

Responsibilities

• Work in the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) within a hospital setting
• Care for post-surgical and recovering patients in a fast-paced environment
• 10 hour day shifts; rotating weeknight and weekend shifts are required
• Participate in a 30 minute call-back response rotation
• Floating between departments and local locations within 20 miles may be required
• EPIC charting experience is preferred but on-site training is available
• Direct patient care responsibilities include assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient needs
• Provide clinical supervision for LPNs and non-licensed assistive personnel
• Must be comfortable collaborating with patients, families, and the healthcare team to coordinate care
• Patient and family education and discharge planning are key duties
• Return travelers who were former permanent staff must wait at least one year before being eligible to return
• No local candidates within a 50-mile radius will be considered
• Scrub attire or dress code must follow hospital policy

Requirements

• Active RN license from New Mexico or a compact state
• Minimum of two years of recent PACU RN experience required
• Completion of at least one prior 13-week travel assignment
• BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications from American Heart Association, American Health and Safety, or American Red Cross required
• Associates Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) required
• Must successfully pass Basic Cardiac Arrhythmia (BCA) testing within the first week of assignment; one retake allowed
