Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position on a busy surgical oncology floor with rotating day/night shifts and advanced certification requirements.

Responsibilities

• Work in a mixed acuity PCU and Med Surg unit within a hospital setting
• Care for adult and geriatric patients with oncology and surgical diagnoses including breast, thyroid, liver, pancreatic, colorectal, and reconstructive cases
• Common procedures include chemotherapy, blood transfusions, IV antibiotics, oncologic emergency management, insulin and heparin drips
• Focus on infection prevention and fall risk reduction
• Staffing ratio goal is 1:4, may be 1:5 depending on patient census
• Scheduling may include days, nights, or rotating shifts with assignments reviewed every 4 weeks based on unit needs
• Initial orientation includes Mon-Fri days, followed by precepted on-unit training
• Uses Epic for charting
• First-time travelers considered for this role
• Must be adaptable to dynamic scheduling with no guaranteed blocked shifts
• Self-scheduling requests are collected but subject to departmental needs
• Holiday and weekend shifts are based on unit requirements
• First week orientation is dayshift; on-unit preceptorship follows
• Scrub color or dress code not specified

Requirements

• Active OH or compact state RN license required
• Minimum of 2 years of relevant RN experience required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• ONS Chemo certification preferred
• Prior experience in PCU or surgical oncology settings strongly preferred
