Job Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Intermediate Care (IMC) float position requiring a VA or Compact RN license and strong cardiac telemetry experience.

Responsibilities

  • Work in an Intermediate Care Unit with float responsibilities to Tele (cardiac and non-cardiac) and Med/Surg units
  • Care for pulmonary, cardiac, trauma, and med/surg overflow patients including those with advanced airway needs and various cardiac drips
  • Night shift position, three 12-hour shifts per week (19:00 - 07:00)
  • Requires working every other weekend
  • No on-call responsibility
  • Responsibilities include managing cardiac and pulmonary conditions such as CHF, acute and chronic pulmonary disease, rule out MI, post MI, and unstable angina
  • Patients include those with tracheostomies, ventilators, high flow O2, BIPAP, chest tubes, and Zephyr Valves
  • COVID-19 and annual flu vaccines are required unless an approved exemption is obtained
  • Facility is smoke and nicotine free
  • No time off requests will be approved after an offer is extended
  • First time travelers considered if experience criteria are met

Requirements

  • Active VA or Compact RN license required at time of consideration
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
  • Cardiac telemetry experience required
  • Recent experience in PCU, DOU, IMC, or Stepdown settings required
  • Experience with management of dysrhythmias and cardiac drips, including titration
  • Rapid Response Team experience required
  • Pre/post cardiac catheterization experience required
  • Central and PICC line management required
  • Heparin protocol experience required
  • Isolation precautions experience required
  • Starting IVs, care for traumatic brain injury, nerve block catheters, surgical drains, and wound care/wound vac are preferred
  • NIH Stroke Scale certification preferred
