Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a floating Intermediate Care (IMC) position with cardiac telemetry and stepdown experience, requiring an active VA or Compact RN license.

Responsibilities

  • Work primarily in the Intermediate Care Unit with floating to cardiac and non-cardiac telemetry units and medical-surgical units
  • Care for patients with pulmonary, cardiac, and trauma needs, including advanced airway management and cardiac interventions
  • Patient population includes acute and chronic pulmonary conditions, cardiac events such as CHF, MI, post MI, arrhythmias, and post-procedure care
  • Handles med/surg overflow as part of assignments
  • Care duties involve monitoring telemetry, managing cardiac drips and titration, central and PICC line management, pre/post cardiac cath care, and airway management devices
  • Day shifts available, 3x12 hour shifts from 7:00 to 19:00
  • Required to work every other weekend
  • No call required
  • Flu vaccine required during flu season from October 1st to March 31st
  • COVID-19 vaccination or qualifying exemption required in compliance with CMS guidelines
  • Facility is smoke and nicotine free
  • Time off requests (RTO) must be submitted prior to offer; no RTO approved after offer

Requirements

  • Active VA or Compact RN license required at time of consideration
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
  • Minimum experience in PCU, DOU, IMC, or stepdown nursing required
  • Cardiac telemetry and dysrhythmia management required
  • Experience with rapid response teams required
  • Pre/post cardiac catheterization experience required
  • Central and PICC line care management required
  • Heparin protocol experience and ability to manage and titrate cardiac drips required
  • Experience working with isolation precautions required
  • NIHSS, experience with traumatic brain injury, nerve block catheters, surgical drains, wound care, and wound vac preferred
  • Proficiency with starting IVs preferred
