Job Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a night shift Emergency Department position in Olympia, WA, requiring at least 2 years of ER experience.
Responsibilities
- Work in the Emergency Department of an acute care hospital
- Cares for patients ranging from neonates to geriatrics, covering all acuity levels from clinic to critical
- Typical patient ratio is 1:4 for both day and night shifts
- Unit has 8 rooms and 3 hallways
- Uses EPIC EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis for medication dispensing, and GE monitors
- No floating is required
- 12-hour night shifts with every other weekend rotation
- Telemetry monitoring at the bedside and nurses' station
- General ER skills including care for ETOH/drug abuse, cardiac, and orthopedic cases; unit is becoming a stroke center
- Support team includes CNA/Techs, resource nurse, RT and hospitalist coverage 24/7
- Free floating charge nurse available for support
- Initial orientation includes 4 hours with the clinical educator and 2-3 shifts on the unit, followed by precepted training
- Navy scrubs required
- Free parking provided
- First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
- Holiday coverage expectations vary
Requirements
- Active WA or Compact RN license
- Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, and MHS Tele exam; CPI or MOAB preferred
- Minimum 2 years of recent ER experience required
- Traveler telemetry competency exam must be completed and passed prior to starting
- COVID vaccination required
