Job Description

American Traveler is hiring a float pool Progressive Care Unit RN with 2 years of recent specialty experience, current BLS/NIHSS certification, and a KS or compact license.

Responsibilities

• Float pool position across multiple Med/Surg Intermediate and PCU units, with floating to additional metro campuses as needed
• Patient ratio is 1:5
• Day shift (3x12) from 6:45 to 19:15
• Holiday shifts and Charge RN assignments may be required based on unit needs
• Weekend requirement of 8 shifts per 6-week schedule (combination of Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays)
• No on-call required
• Work involves telemetry, cardiac monitoring, neuro stepdown, and post-cardiac cath care
• Uses virtual nurse support, 12 lead EKG, AirVo, Voalte, and Omnicell systems
• Expected to float frequently between several PCU and Med/Surg intermediate units and metro campuses
• Assignment includes management of complex cases such as sepsis, ETOH, renal failure, AFIB, GIB, stroke, and COVID
• Competency with wound care, emergency interventions, and advanced telemetry equipment required
• Must complete pre-start modules, annual training, and drug screening as part of compliance
• RTO (request time off) is capped at 7 days for the contract
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• No travel partners accepted for this assignment

Requirements

• Active Kansas or compact RN license in hand and maintained throughout assignment, due to cross-campus floating
• Current BLS and NIHSS required; ACLS preferred
• Minimum 2 years of recent PCU/stepdown experience with at least 1 year in specialty within the last 12 months
• Experience with MS/Tele, telemetry, cardiac monitoring, emergency response, dysrhythmia management, and neuro stepdown
• Ability to interpret and manage cardiac dysrhythmias and provide pre/post cardiac cath care
• Must provide 2 recent professional references, including at least one supervisor
• Not open to local candidates; permanent address must be at least 75 miles from facility
• Pending licenses not accepted; license must be active at time of consideration
