Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Night Shift Progressive Care Unit position requiring BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and at least 18 months of PCU experience.

Details

• Work in a 36-bed Progressive Care Unit (PCU) with a patient census of 36
• Patient population includes COPD, heart failure, cardiac arrhythmias, renal failure, sepsis, ETOH/CIWA, IVDA, tracheostomies requiring mechanical ventilation, and patients on advanced respiratory support such as BIPAP/CPAP and high flow nasal cannula
• RN to patient ratios are 1:3-4
• Night shift schedule (1930-0700), 12-hour shifts, with every other weekend required
• Expected to work 75% of holidays
• Floating required within Region 2, including Pineville, Anson, Union, Union West, Central Division, and others within scope of practice
• No on-call or call back requirements
• EMR system is Epic, with Omnicell for medication dispensing and Alaris IV pumps
• Scrub color for RNs is navy blue

Requirements

• Active NC or compact RN license required prior to consideration
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum of 18 months Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience
• Must have recent experience caring for trached and vented patients, temporary/transvenous pacemakers, titratable cardiac drips, cardiac rhythm interpretation, chest tubes, trach care, blood product administration, and wound care
• Experience with Epic EMR preferred
• Must provide last 4 digits of SSN and full DOB for consideration
• At least one professional reference from a supervisor, manager, director, or charge RN dated within one year required
• Permanent address must be at least 50 miles from facility
• Returning employees must have a one-year separation after a permanent position at the affiliated health system

• Responsibilities include managing complex and progressive patients requiring advanced respiratory and cardiac support
• Support staff includes charge nurse, CNAs, 24/7 RT, pharmacist, case managers, and virtual nurse support for admissions and observation
• No remote telemetry monitoring; staff are responsible for rhythm interpretation and documentation
