Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a PACU position requiring strong ortho skills and a willingness to float, with a flexible schedule and a valid CT or compact RN license.

Responsibilities

• Work in the PACU of a large Level I Trauma Center
• Provide care for post-anesthesia patients with frequent orthopedic cases
• Day shift, 5x8 hours (11:00–19:30), Monday through Friday with no weekends
• Floating to other PACUs within the facility is required
• On-call required depending on department needs
• Uses Epic EMR; prior experience with Epic preferred
• Care for post-anesthesia patients, with a focus on orthopedic recoveries
• Collaborate within a team-based, high-acuity, academic medical center setting
• Required to float between PACU units as needed for staffing support
• Block scheduling requests cannot be accommodated
• First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
• Up to 7 days of requested time off will be automatically approved; longer requests require additional approval
• Scrub attire is required while working in the PACU environment
• Travelers are expected to participate in natural disaster or emergency response activities if needed

Requirements

• Active CT or compact RN license; pending license accepted with application in process
• Minimum 2 years of recent PACU RN experience required
• Strong orthopedic nursing experience is required
• BLS certification required
• Recent trauma center experience at a large facility required
• Flu vaccine required without declination option
• COVID-19 and booster vaccine required unless medical or religious exemption is approved
• Candidates must not have prior disciplinary actions on nursing license
• Applicants must live at least 75 miles from the facility
• Returning staff must have a 2-year gap in employment with the system
