Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring Epic proficiency, telemetry experience, and a minimum of 2 years of RN experience.

Responsibilities

  • Inpatient Med/Surg Tele unit within a hospital setting
  • Specialized patient population includes stroke (neuro/CVA) patients alongside a variety of patients with multiple co-morbidities
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5–1:6
  • Required skills include telemetry remote monitoring, feeding tube care and management, accessing and managing ports, blood product administration, central line care and management, peripheral line care and management, PICC line management, starting and maintaining IVs, nasal cannula, isolation precautions/PPE, and wound care/wound vac
  • Telemetry on-unit monitoring experience preferred
  • Dysrhythmia interpretation required
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM–7:30 AM
  • Every other weekend required; holiday coverage as needed
  • Floating between all health system campuses is required for all travelers
  • All RNs are required to pass a Pass/Fail EKG exam during compliance, regardless of specialty; two attempts are allowed and no study materials are provided by the facility
  • Non-billable orientation modules average 2–4 hours and are completed during orientation
  • The facility has a zero-tolerance policy for tardiness and unexcused absences
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Third-party education verification is required; the facility does not accept credentials from schools listed on the Diploma Fraud Florida Education Audit list
  • The facility will not accept candidates with open cases on their background check
  • Any requested time off must be disclosed at the time of submission; RTO requests submitted after submission will not be accepted

Requirements

  • Active NC or compact RN license currently in hand
  • Current BLS certification required; NIHSS certification required
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Telemetry remote monitoring experience required
  • Feeding tube care and management experience required
  • Experience with ports, blood products, central lines, PICC lines, peripheral lines, and IV starts required
  • Patient ratio experience of 1:5–1:6 required
  • Two professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration
  • Copy of driver's license required for consideration
  • Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility; no local candidates accepted
