Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg position with a minimum of 1 year of experience, requiring an active SC or Compact RN license in hand prior to start.

Responsibilities

• Day shift, 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
• Med/Surg unit in a small inpatient hospital setting (28 beds)
• Patient ratio of 1:6–7
• Every other weekend requirement with holiday rotation
• Floating within scope to similar units or sister facilities may be required
• No on-call requirement
• Charting via Epic (experience required)
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Candidates must reside more than 60 miles from the facility to be eligible — local candidates are not accepted
• Care responsibilities may include telemetry monitoring, cardiac dysrhythmia interpretation, use of rapid response/code teams, wound care, respiratory support (BiPAP/CPAP, HFNC, tracheostomy), GI and GU management, PICC/central line care, port access, and blood product administration
• Scrub color: Royal Blue
• Free parking available on-site
• Pre-start orientation modules are required and completed before the assignment begins (approximately 4 hours)
• All requested time off (RTO) must be submitted up front and is subject to facility approval based on scheduling needs
• During hurricane season (June–November), all employees and contractors — including travelers — may be assigned to emergency response teams; peak activity months are August and September

Requirements

• Active SC RN license or Compact RN license required in hand prior to start
• Current AHA BLS certification required
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
• SSN and valid Driver's License required for consideration
• 2 professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration
• Previous permanent or PRN staff at any MUSC facility must have been separated for at least 1 year before being eligible
