Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Telemetry position requiring a minimum of 2 years of experience, Epic proficiency, and active ACLS and BLS certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Telemetry unit in an acute care hospital setting
  • Adult to geriatric patient population with diagnoses including CHF, MI/chest pain (pre- and post-cath), dysrhythmias (pre- and post-device implants), hypo-/hypertension, pleural effusion, sepsis, and PE/DVT/vascular issues
  • Patient ratio of 1:4-5 on a 36-room unit with an average daily census of 35
  • Charting via Epic (required); also uses Pyxis and SBAR
  • Day shift, 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 AM–7:00 PM
  • Every other weekend required
  • Floating within the facility and scope of practice as needed
  • No on-call requirements
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Navy blue scrubs required
  • RTO maximum of 7 days per assignment; RTO cannot be requested during the first week of assignment
  • RTO blackout dates apply during Spring Break (April 4–12)
  • Holiday coverage policy: travelers are expected to work all major holidays that fall within their assignment period if one or two occur; if three occur, travelers must work two and may request approval for one holiday RTO
  • Major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Christmas Day, and New Year's Eve/New Year's Day
  • Travelers who have previously worked at this health system must have been away from all of its facilities for a full year before returning as a traveler
  • Local candidates are accepted
  • No special scheduling requests, shift changes, or alternate schedule accommodations are permitted
  • Candidates must be fully compliant with onboarding requirements on time, as orientation runs on a bi-weekly schedule

Requirements

  • Active GA or compact RN license required
  • Minimum 2 years of telemetry nursing experience required
  • Required certifications: BLS and ACLS; NIHSS preferred
  • Proficiency in Epic required
  • Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and telemetry (unit and remote monitoring)
  • Experience with pre/post cardiac cath care, post-MI care, and cardiac drip management
  • Experience with heparin protocols, IV therapy, central and PICC line management, and blood product administration
  • Two supervisory references (manager level or above; charge nurse references not accepted) are highly preferred for consideration
