Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) position at an academic medical center, requiring Epic experience and a minimum of 2 years of ICU experience.

Responsibilities

• 24-bed Thoracic Cardiovascular ICU (TCV ICU) within a large academic medical center
• Patients include those undergoing cardiac, vascular, and thoracic surgical procedures such as CABG, valve replacement/repair, heart transplantation, and lung transplantation
• Patient ratio of 1:2
• Day shift, 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM (3x12-hour shifts)
• 36 or 48 hours per week available; block scheduling cannot be accommodated
• Every other weekend and every other holiday required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Floating within scope of practice within the facility is required
• BSN preferred
• Charge nurse experience preferred
• Teaching hospital and Trauma Level I experience preferred
• Preferred skills include ECMO, IABP, post-cardiac surgery care (directly from OR), TAVR, and Pre/Post cardiac cath/intervention
• Candidates with prior permanent or travel employment within the University of Virginia Health system must have been separated for at least 12 months and receive leadership approval before returning; external travelers who have worked 365 cumulative days on assignment are not eligible to return regardless of separation period
• RTO is limited to a maximum of 40 hours per 13-week contract; all RTO requests must be confirmed at the time of submission, as no additional requests will be approved after acceptance
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Local candidates are accepted for this unit
• No radius rule applies to this position

Requirements

• Active VA or Compact RN license required; pending license accepted but must be in-hand by the Wednesday prior to start date
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Surgical ICU or cardiovascular ICU experience required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Proficiency with arterial lines, central line care, PA/Swan-Ganz monitoring, and titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips required
• Ventilator management and care of ventilated patients required
• Two professional references required for consideration
• Copy of driver's license and Social Security card required for consideration
