Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Step-Down/Telemetry position requiring a minimum of 2 years of RN experience and the ability to read cardiac strips, with night shift availability.

Responsibilities

• Step-down unit in a hospital setting, focused on lower-acuity patients not requiring drips
• Typical patient ratio of 1:4, with a maximum of 1:5 during emergencies
• Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
• Weekday shifts with every other weekend required
• Telemetry monitoring performed on the unit
• Cerner EMR experience required
• 13-week contract with possibility of extension
• Scrubs are not provided; required colors are burgundy and/or white
• Orientation is held every other Thursday
• Non-billable online modules (averaging 8 hours) must be completed prior to the start of the contract
• Candidates must have a permanent address greater than 100 miles from the facility; candidates between 75–100 miles may be considered on a case-by-case basis at the same rate
• Current or former permanent employees of any Vandalia Health System facility (including CAMC Health Systems, Mon Health Systems, Davis Medical Center, Broaddus Hospital, Webster Memorial Hospital, Grafton City Hospital, Highland-Clarksburg Hospital, and Minnie Hamilton Health System) are not eligible for a travel contract at this facility
• Former permanent employees of this facility must have been separated for at least 2 years before being eligible to return as a traveler
• Any previous probationary actions on license will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis
• The facility has a strict attendance policy — no more than 2–3 call-offs are permitted per contract, and any called-off shifts must be made up
• RTO requests must be submitted at the time of application
• Travel experience is not required; first-time travelers are welcome to apply

Requirements

• Active WV or Compact RN license required (pending license acceptable)
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required, including at least 1 year in Med/Surg Telemetry and 2 years in a Step-Down setting
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required (American Heart Association-issued)
• Ability to read and interpret cardiac rhythm strips required
• IV insertion skills required
• Minimum of 2 manager or charge nurse references from within the past 2 years required for consideration
• SSN and DOB required for consideration
• Copy of driver's license required for consideration
