Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) position requiring 2+ years of RN experience and specialized cardiac surgery skills including direct fresh open-heart admissions and Swan-Ganz management.

Responsibilities

• 13-week travel contract with possibility of extension
• Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:00), weekdays and weekends
• Patient ratio of 1:2, based on acuity; unit may occasionally have overflow step-down level patients
• Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) setting within an acute care hospital
• Specialized procedures include direct fresh open-heart admissions from the OR, ACT (Activated Clotting Time) monitoring, Swan-Ganz catheter management, Impella monitoring, and CRRT
• Additional skills utilized include arterial line management, IABP, TAVR, LVAD/RVAD, ventricular assist devices, titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips, and care of ventilated patients
• Cerner EMR (preferred experience)
• Blocked schedules will only be considered for weekend-only requests (Fri/Sat/Sun or Sat/Sun/Mon)
• Candidates must reside more than 100 miles from the facility to be eligible; candidates residing between 75–100 miles may be considered on a case-by-case basis at the same rate
• Current or recent employees of any Vandalia Health System facility (including CAMC Health Systems, Mon Health Systems, Davis Medical Center, Broaddus Hospital, Webster Memorial Hospital, Grafton City Hospital, Highland-Clarksburg Hospital, and Minnie Hamilton Health System) are not eligible for a travel contract at this facility, regardless of employment type (perm, PRN, etc.)
• Former permanent employees of this facility must have a gap of at least 2 years from their last date of permanent employment before being eligible as a traveler
• Any previous probationary actions on license will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis
• Orientation is held every other Thursday; pre-start online modules averaging approximately 8 hours must be completed prior to the start date
• RTO requests should be submitted at the time of application
• Scrubs are not provided by the facility
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply

Requirements

• Active WV RN license or valid Compact RN license required; pending license is acceptable
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Required certifications (must be AHA-issued): BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
• ACT (Activated Clotting Time) experience is required
• Hands-on experience with direct open-heart admissions from the OR, cardiac surgery skills, Swan-Ganz management, Impella monitoring, and CRRT required
• Minimum of 2 manager or charge nurse references from within the past 2 years required for consideration
• Valid government-issued photo ID (driver's license) and Social Security card required for consideration
• DOB and SSN required at time of application
