Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced travel RN for a Med/Surg position at a Level I Trauma Center, requiring at least 2 years of experience and prior travel experience.

Responsibilities

• Short-term acute care hospital setting, Level I Trauma Center
• Medical Surgical unit
• Team nursing ratios (details to be discussed with manager during interview)
• Night shift: 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00–07:00
• 36- or 48-hour workweeks available
• Weekend availability required as needed
• On-call required as needed
• Floating between like units and campuses within 20 miles may occur, though cross-campus floating is rare
• Cerner EMR preferred
• Candidates must reside at least 100 miles from the facility to be eligible — no local candidates accepted
• All requested time off (RTO) must be submitted upfront; RTO submitted after an offer is made will not be approved and must be arranged directly with the manager or scheduler
• Holiday coverage required: if Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's fall within the assignment, must be willing to work at least 2 of the 3; if only 2 holidays fall within the assignment, must be willing to work at least 1
• Former permanent employees or internal associate travelers must have been separated for at least one year before being eligible to return
• Block scheduling is not available; weekend block scheduling may be considered

Requirements

• Active RN license — TN state license or NLC Compact license required; no pending licensure accepted
• Current BLS certification required; ACLS and NIHSS preferred
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required; 3+ years preferred
• Level I Trauma Center experience required
• Large hospital experience required
• At least one completed prior travel assignment required; first-time travelers are not eligible
• IV start proficiency required
• ADN degree accepted for this position
• Driver's license required for consideration
