Job Description
American Traveler is hiring an IR Technologist for an acute care interventional radiology setting, requiring at least 1 year of Cath Lab or Radiology Tech experience with strong sterile technique skills.
Responsibilities
- Acute care hospital setting in an interventional radiology unit with 2 procedure suites
- Average of 5–10 cases per day
- Patient cases include diagnostic left and right heart caths, PCI, IABP, Impella, temporary pacemakers, TCAR, EVAR, EKOS, AIF, IVC filters, infusaports, permacaths, venograms, and vascular surgery procedures
- Siemens software and equipment used; Epic EMR
- 8-hour day shifts, Monday–Friday; start and stop times vary based on case volume and scheduling
- Rotating call required: up to 7 days per 4-week schedule, with a 30-minute response time requirement
- Weekend call coverage: Friday after hours through Monday 7:00 AM (for those not on Monday-to-Monday call rotation)
- Holiday call coverage is rotational
- No mandatory floating; optional additional hours available in other units based on experience
- Rad Techs scrub and assist the physician during procedures; RNs handle circulating, sedation, and documentation
- Department-specific orientation includes general hospital orientation, nursing orientation, and computer training, totaling approximately one week or up to 36 hours
- Surgical attire is provided; personal lead is not provided
- First-time travelers with strong experience will be considered
- Candidates must live at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible (100 miles for certain affiliated locations)
- Travelers who have previously worked at any WVU Medicine location must have taken a minimum 2-year break before returning
- Travelers may not work within the WVU system for longer than a cumulative total of one year without taking a 2-year break
Requirements
- Minimum of 1 year of Cath Lab or Radiology Tech experience required
- ARRT and BLS certifications required
- Proficiency in sterile technique and scrubbing required
- Experience with neuroradiology and vascular IR procedures
- EKOS experience preferred; training available for qualified candidates
- A valid driver's license is required for consideration

Schedule could use some work, alternating weekends vs every 4th weekend. The hospital could be cleaner. The equipment works but is limited to two rooms for all patients, inpatient, outpatient, and ER- 2 rooms with 2 portables.
