Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a PACU position in Hawaii, requiring 2+ years of critical care experience and an active Hawaii RN license by the start of the assignment.

Details

• Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) in a hospital setting
• Cares for patients pre-op, and in Phase I and Phase II recovery
• Shifts vary between 8, 10, and 12 hours and may be days, evenings, nights, weekends, or holidays
• Shifts rotate across ASU and PACU units
• On-call required 0–3 times per month, including 8-hour night call and 24-hour weekend/holiday call
• EMR and equipment used includes Meditech, PCA Pumps, Pyxis, Braun IV Pumps, Cryocuff, SCDs, Bair PAWS Warmers, HP Monitors, and Phillips Monitors

Requirements

• Active Hawaii (HI) RN license required by start of assignment; must apply upon acceptance of offer if not already held
• Minimum 2 years of PACU experience, or 2+ years of critical care RN experience (ER or ICU) in a hospital setting may be accepted as a substitute
• Current BLS/BCLS and ACLS from the American Heart Association required
• PALS from the American Heart Association required
• Critical care assessment skills including monitoring incision sites, body temperature, and post-anesthesia patient stability
• Proof of flu vaccination or a facility-approved medical/religious exemption required prior to contract start

Additional Information

• All travelers must report to Employee Health 48–72 hours prior to the start of the assignment; plan to arrive in Hawaii the Thursday before a Monday start to attend the Friday morning Employee Health appointment
• Flu vaccination may be administered during the Employee Health clearance appointment
• Responsibilities include caring for patients in pre-op, Phase I, and Phase II recovery with advanced knowledge of anesthesiology and post-surgical monitoring
• Prior experience in critical care and surgical nursing is a plus
• Specialty certifications such as NIHSS and TNCC are preferred and may be required
