Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Progressive Critical Care Unit (PCU) night shift position requiring a minimum of 2 years of PCU or ICU experience and Epic EMR proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Night shift schedule, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
• 13-week travel contract
• Works in the Progressive Critical Care Unit (PCU) of an academic medical center
• Cares for high-acuity medical and surgical patients including those with respiratory failure, sepsis, closed head injuries, multi-system organ dysfunction, endocrine disorders, complex trauma, and surgical complications
• Average patient load of 3 high-acuity patients
• Required to be competent in advanced hemodynamics including pressor management per titration protocols, antihypertensive drips, sedative and Narcan drips, thrombolytics, A-line, CVP, EVD, orthopedic traction, HFNC, BiPAP/CPAP, and OxyPendent
• Every other weekend required
• Rotating holiday coverage required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Nurses with large-scale adult PCU experience or community hospital ICU experience are well-suited for this role
• A competency test must be completed within 24 hours of submission; ensure your email address is current
• Navy blue scrubs required
• Candidates residing in the following counties are ineligible: Albany, Columbia, Dutchess, Fulton, Greene, Montgomery, Rensselaer, Saratoga, Schenectady, Ulster, Warren, and Washington
• Any requested time off (RTO) must be submitted at the time of application
• Travel pairs are not allowed for this position

Requirements

• Active NY RN license required
• Current AHA or RQI certifications required: BLS and ACLS
• Minimum 2 years of recent PCU or ICU experience required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Competency in care of both medical and surgical patient populations required
• US Social Security Number required
• Flu vaccination required; only medical exemptions signed by a licensed professional are accepted — personal or religious declinations will not be accepted
• No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
