Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a PCU (Progressive Care Unit) position at a Level I Trauma Academic Medical Center, requiring ventilator and telemetry experience with night shift availability.

Responsibilities

• Progressive Care Unit (PCU) in a large, short-term acute care hospital and Level I Trauma Academic Medical Center with over 1,500 beds
• Pulmonary step-down patient population requiring mechanical ventilation, tracheostomy care, and telemetry monitoring
• Average patient ratio of 1:3
• Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00–07:00
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call requirements
• Floating within scope may be required to meet facility needs
• Block scheduling is not available
• Charting via Epic EMR
• Parking is available at a cost of approximately $125/month
• Provide progressive care nursing to pulmonary step-down patients requiring mechanical ventilation and tracheostomy management
• Flu vaccination is required; declinations are not accepted
• COVID-19 vaccination exemptions are accepted for religious or medical reasons only
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible for the travel rate
• Former permanent staff of this facility must have been separated for at least 2 years to be considered as a traveler
• RTO of up to 7 days may be approved automatically; requests exceeding 7 days require additional facility approval

Requirements

• Active CT or Compact RN license required (pending license accepted, but must be active prior to start date)
• Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• ICU, ventilator (mechanical ventilation), telemetry, and tracheostomy experience required
• Prior experience in a large trauma center setting required
• No prior disciplinary actions on nursing license
• 1 professional reference required for consideration
