Job Description
American Traveler is hiring an Interventional Radiology Technologist with at least 1 year of IR experience for a 13-week travel contract at a Level IV Trauma Center and major teaching hospital in West Virginia.
Responsibilities
- Interventional Radiology unit within a short-term acute care, Level IV Trauma Center and major teaching hospital with 838 staffed beds
- Procedures include peripheral angiography/venography with intervention, EVAR, TEVAR, carotid stenting, neuro-intervention including acute stroke, and embolization
- Average daily census of 7–10 patients
- 4x10 hour day shifts, Monday–Friday, typically 7:30 AM–6:00 PM
- On-call rotation required, averaging approximately 8 days per month including 1 weekend per month, with a 30-minute response time; every third weekend required (approximately 5–6 total weekends per contract)
- May be required to float to a sister facility approximately 2 miles away for 1 week during the contract
- Charting performed in Cerner
- Siemens fluoroscopy and ultrasound experience preferred
- Hospital issues blue surgical scrubs
- Parking is free for travelers
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Former permanent employees of this facility are not eligible to return as travelers until 2 years after their last day of permanent employment
- Responsibilities include accurate patient monitoring, equipment setup and maintenance, inventory management, supply stocking, EKG lead placement, access site preparation, room circulation, and scrubbing to maintain a sterile field
- COVID vaccine is not required
- The facility is open to accommodating reasonable blocked schedule requests, to be discussed at the time of interview
- Orientations are held every other Monday
Requirements
- Minimum of 1 year of Interventional Radiology experience required
- Active ARRT certification required; candidates with pending WV State License may be considered, but license must be active prior to start date
- WV State License required if applicable
- Current BLS required
- Vascular Intervention certification preferred
- Proficiency with PACS, fluoroscopy, and sterile technique required
- Experience with vascular closure systems (Perclose, StarClose) required
- Skills must include equipment setup, EKG lead placement, access site preparation, recognition of life-threatening arrhythmias, room circulation, and scrubbing to maintain a sterile field
- Must be willing and able to fulfill on-call requirements including weeknight and weekend rotations
- Candidates must reside more than 100 miles from the facility; candidates residing 75–99 miles away may be submitted for facility approval
- Flu vaccine required during flu season (October 1–March 31); medical exemption documentation from an allergist or physician is accepted
- Two manager or charge nurse references from within the past 2 years required for consideration
- Valid driver's license and Social Security card required for consideration
