  • Ventilator management required
  • Charting via Cerner EMR
  • 12-hour night shifts (shift start time 1745)

  • First to float designation applies
  • Hospitalist or Intensivist in-house 24/7; RT and Pharmacy available 24/7
  • No IV team on unit; nurse aides available based on census and staffing
  • Self-scheduling used, balanced by manager; schedules posted 4 weeks out
  • Neuro experience preferred, as the unit floats to MSNICU
  • Travelers will not be assigned LVAD patients; core staff will validate skills for CABG recovery, IABP, and CRRT
  • IABP assignments are not 1:1
  • Floor orientation is 1–2 days with a preceptor; a pass/fail sterile technique test for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes is administered on the first day of orientation
  • The Relias Dysrhythmia (DYS) exam must be passed prior to offer confirmation; candidates have two attempts
  • Holiday rotation required; travelers are expected to work 2 of the 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's)
  • Scrub color is navy; undershirts must be navy, white, or black; scrub jackets are optional but must be navy if worn
  • Bedside report is used on this unit
  • A manager interview is part of the consideration process
