Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a high-volume Adult Emergency Department position requiring a minimum of 3 years of ER experience and recent Level 1 or 2 trauma facility background.
Responsibilities
- Adult Emergency Department setting at a highly rated academic medical center recognized as one of the highest-volume EDs in the country
- 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM, 36 hours per week on variable days
- Weekends and holidays are required
- Floating is required and flexibility is essential for this position
- Epic EMR used; recent experience is required
- 13-week contract
- A unit manager interview is required as part of the selection process
- All new RN starts must pass a specialty-specific exam and an EKG exam, each with a minimum score of 80%; 100% of lethal rhythms must be identified correctly on the EKG exam regardless of overall score
- Nurses who do not pass the EKG exam will be required to complete extended remedial training beyond Day 2 of orientation; candidates are encouraged to review cardiac rhythms in the week prior to their start date
- No RTO is permitted during the first 2 weeks of the assignment; a maximum of 10 days RTO is allowed for the full 13-week contract
- No block scheduling available
- Unplanned time off (UTO) may result in contract cancellation
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
- This position offers strong resume value as part of a traveler-friendly culture at a prestigious academic medical center
Requirements
- Active FL RN license or compact RN license currently in hand
- Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, PALS (or ENPC), and TNCC
- Minimum 3 years of experience as an ER RN
- Last 12 months of experience must include at least one assignment at a Level 1 or 2 trauma facility in a major metropolitan area; academic medical institution experience preferred
- Recent Epic EMR experience required
- Must be able to identify lethal cardiac rhythms; EKG interpretation skills including mapping required
- At least 1 professional reference dated within the last 12 months
