Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg & ED Swing position requiring charge experience, TNCC certification, and a willingness to work night shifts every other weekend.

Responsibilities

• Acute care hospital setting combining Med/Surg and ED in a single 22-bed unit
• Patient ratios: 1:4 for acute care, 1:6 for swing beds, and 1:4 in the ED
• Patient population spans a wide range of diagnoses across both Med/Surg and ED settings
• RNs are required to titrate drips
• Respiratory equipment includes nebulizers, O2 (nasal and mask), ventilators (ED and transport only), and CPAP (swing bed patients)
• Telemetry is present on the unit; ED nurses are responsible for reading strips
• Charting is performed in MatrixCare/Matrix
• 12-hour night shifts, 7p–7a
• Every other weekend required
• Every other holiday required
• Flex time may be required
• Travelers are first to float; floating to the ED is expected and charge nurse responsibilities may apply
• Responsibilities include providing nursing care across both the Med/Surg and ED environments within a single unit, including charge nurse duties as assigned
• Orientation to the unit is provided (12 hours)
• Any scrub color is acceptable
• Candidates who have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by this facility or any CommonSpirit/CHI/Dignity-affiliated facility within the past 12 months are not eligible; candidates employed PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered
• No clinical involvement in the hiring process

Requirements

• Active ND or Compact (NLC) RN license required; must be active at time of consideration — pending licenses not accepted
• Required certifications: BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), PALS (AHA), and TNCC — all must be active; pending certifications not accepted
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• At least 1 year of combined Med/Surg and ED experience required
• Charge nurse experience required
• Experience titrating drips required
• Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
• A copy of a valid driver's license is required for consideration
• Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, each including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
