Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an Occupational Therapist for a 13-week inpatient acute care contract at a Critical Access Hospital, working independently across acute inpatient and swing bed rehab settings.

Responsibilities

• Inpatient acute care and swing bed (rehab) setting at a Critical Access Hospital (CAH)
• May occasionally be asked to see outpatients if time allows
• Patient caseload of 7–11 patients per day
• Common diagnoses include weakness related to illness, pneumonia, COVID, CHF, and COPD, with a focus on MS and LTC-type patients; no critical care
• Heavy focus on ADL assessments in the morning
• Monday–Friday day shift, 8:00 AM–12:00 PM and 12:30–4:30 PM
• No weekend or holiday requirements
• 13-week contract
• Charting in Cerner (transitioning to Epic)
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Candidate will function as the sole therapist for inpatient and swing bed, with outpatient OTs available as a resource
• Orientation during the first week is scheduled alongside a current therapist for inpatient coverage
• Responsibilities include creating individualized plans of care and thorough documentation
• Any color scrubs are acceptable; clean and professional or dress casual attire required
• Candidates who have previously worked at this facility must have an end date at least 6 months prior to their consideration date, and hospital approval is required
• Candidates living within 80 miles of the facility are considered local, which affects the travel pay rate

Requirements

• Active OT license required by start date; license required if applicable
• Minimum 1 year of OT experience outside of school or clinical rotations
• Current BLS certification (AHA)
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Strong communication skills and ability to hit the ground running
• 2 references required for consideration: 1 supervisor reference from within the last 12 months of relevant experience, and 1 peer or supervisor reference from within the last 3 years
