Job Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Medical ICU (MICU) position at an oncology-focused hospital, requiring Epic proficiency and a minimum of 2 years of ICU experience.

Responsibilities

• Position is in the Medical ICU (MICU) of an oncology hospital setting
• Patient population includes adults and geriatrics with complex oncologic, pulmonary, and critical care diagnoses including oncologic emergencies, COPD, ARDS, GI bleed, sepsis, pulmonary hypertension, and autoimmune disorders
• Common treatments include mechanical ventilation, CRRT, pulmonary artery catheter placement, arterial pressure monitoring, cardiac monitoring, chest tubes, central venous catheters, chemotherapy administration, plasmapheresis, and complex medication regimens
• Many patients require bronchoscopy or endoscopy for underlying pulmonary and GI conditions
• Night shift: 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00–07:30
• Epic EMR required
• 13-week contract
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
• If scheduled for a day/night rotating contract, shift assignments may include days, nights, or a combination based on department needs, reviewed every 4-week scheduling period
• No 30-day break is required between assignments when changing representation at this facility (except for Sterile Processing Techs)
• 2 professional supervisor references from within the past 2 years are required for consideration
• A full 7-year work history with all gaps explained is required
• All time-off or scheduling requests must be submitted at the time of initial consideration

Requirements

• Active OH or Compact RN license required
• Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
• Proficiency with mechanical ventilators required
• IV insertion skills required
• Epic EMR experience required
