Job Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a General Surgery Med/Surg unit on night shift, requiring at least 1 year of inpatient Med/Surg experience and an active MO or compact RN license.

Responsibilities

• Night shift position, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM, 36 or 48 hours per week
• 26-week assignment
• General Surgery unit (GI, GU, Plastics, Overflow Ortho patient population)
• 30-bed unit with a patient ratio of 1:6–7 on nights
• Equipment includes Alaris IV pumps, Kangaroo enteral feeding pumps, wound vacs, SCD machines, PCA pumps, low air loss mattresses, and remote telemetry monitors
• EMR: Epic
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call requirements
• Floating to other units may be required based on staffing needs
• Flu vaccination (or Mercy-approved exemption) is required from November 1 through April 1; declinations are not accepted
• Black scrubs (Mercy M Wear) required; no other attire is acceptable
• Night shift orientation is conducted on day shift; full availability is required for the entire orientation week
• RTO of up to 5 days is permitted but must be made up during the assignment; only 1 holiday RTO request allowed per assignment
• Candidates living within 50 miles of the facility are eligible but subject to a reduced bill rate
• Local candidates within 50 miles are limited to 3 consecutive 13-week contracts at the facility, after which they must separate for a minimum of 1 year or transfer to a facility outside the 50-mile radius
• The facility is a Level 2 Trauma Center, Joint Commission Comprehensive Stroke Center, and Level 1 STEMI Center

Requirements

• Active RN license in Missouri or compact license meeting Missouri eligibility requirements
• Valid U.S. Social Security Number required (Canadian SINs not accepted)
• BLS certification from AHA required
• ACLS from AHA and TNCC preferred
• Minimum 1 year of recent inpatient Med/Surg experience required
• No employment gaps of 90+ days within the past 12 months
• Ability to stand and walk for most of the shift, with significant bending, stooping, lifting, and turning of patients; push, pull, and grip up to 50 lbs., pinch up to 15 lbs.
