Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a night shift Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position requiring a minimum of 2 years of PCU/step-down experience and an NH or compact RN license.

Responsibilities

Progressive Care Unit (PCU) / step-down hospital setting
Night shift schedule: 7p–7a, 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week
Meditech EMR experience highly preferred
No more than 5 days of RTO may be requested for this contract
Local candidates are not accepted for this position

Requirements

Active NH RN license or compact RN license currently in hand
Current certifications required: BLS (AHA) and ACLS (AHA)
Minimum 2 years of recent experience in a PCU, IMCU, or step-down unit
Completed PCU/step-down skills checklist, current within the past year
Previous travel nursing experience highly preferred
Candidates must reside 50+ miles from the facility to be eligible for this position

Pros

Very easy work. Basic ortho cases, general, podietry, and urology. Also will do endo and will phase 1 PACU your own patient. Two ORs and endo room.

Cons

Contract signed was for 4 10s and they told me when I got there it was 5 8s. Cancelled a lot of contracts while I was there. Didn’t explain I would be responsible to do phase 1 recovery myself on my patient and when on call you will not have a second nurse and anesthesia will not stay with you. If the patient is being discharged and the floor doesn’t have a nurse they will also make you do phase 2 and discharge that patient. Pre op will not do blocks so you will also be responsible for doing that before going back to OR.
