Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Medical Surgical Oncology position at a large Level I Trauma Center and Academic Medical Center, requiring a minimum of 2 years of experience and night shift availability.

Responsibilities

• Work in the Medical Surgical Oncology unit of a large, short-term acute care hospital with 1,500+ staffed beds
• Level I Trauma Center and Academic Medical Center setting
• Average patient ratio of 1:4-5
• Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
• Every other weekend required
• Floating within scope required to meet facility needs
• No on-call responsibilities
• Charting via Epic EMR
• Block scheduling is not available
• Parking is available at an additional cost (~$125/month)
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Royal blue scrubs required
• Flu vaccine is required; declinations are not accepted
• COVID vaccine required; religious and medical exemptions are accepted
• Former permanent staff must have been separated for at least 2 years before being considered as a traveler
• RTO of 7 days or fewer can be approved automatically; anything beyond 7 days requires facility approval
• 1 professional reference required for consideration

Requirements

• Active RN license (Connecticut or Compact) required; pending license accepted but must be active prior to start date
• Current BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Prior experience in a large Trauma Center setting required
• No prior disciplinary actions or priors on nursing license
• Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
