Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an ICU-Oncology position at a Magnet, Level I Trauma teaching hospital, requiring Epic proficiency and strong critical care skills including dysrhythmia management.
Responsibilities
- Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30)
- Option to work 36 or 48 hours per week
- ICU-Oncology unit within a short-term acute care, Magnet-designated Level I Trauma teaching hospital with 1,266 staffed beds
- Patient ratio of 1:2 with an average daily census of 21 (25-bed unit)
- No chemotherapy administration; nurses are responsible for their own phlebotomy draws
- Procedures and skills include: central line care/management, PICC line management, arterial line management, blood product administration, continuous IV sedation, procedural sedation, titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips, BiPAP, ventilator management, high-flow nasal cannula, ABG interpretation, ETT/NT suctioning, IV insulin protocols, and wound vac/surgical wound management
- Equipment used includes Pyxis for medication dispensing
- Epic EMR required for charting
- Floating may be required to oncology floors, oncology service line, other ICUs, or elsewhere within scope of practice
- Every other weekend required
- No on-call requirements
- Block scheduling is not available
- Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Navy blue scrubs required
- RTO is limited to no more than 7 days per 13-week contract; no RTO during the first week of orientation
- Former permanent employees of the health system must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
- Travelers may work at this health system for up to 18 months, after which a 3-month break in service is required
- Support services available on unit include interpretation services, IV teams, pharmacy, PT, social services, radiology, respiratory therapy, rapid response teams, patient transport, and unit secretaries
- Parking passes are available for purchase on a monthly basis; specific lots and garages are available at varying costs depending on shift type
Requirements
- Active MO RN license or Compact RN license valid in Missouri required at time of consideration
- Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Must pass a Relias EKG exam; interpretation and management of dysrhythmias required
- Proficiency in multi-system organ failure management, infection prevention, and isolation precautions/PPE
- BSN preferred
- Teaching hospital experience preferred
