Job Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Medical/Surgical unit at a 400-bed Level II Trauma facility in Alabama, requiring an active AL RN license and night shift availability.

Responsibilities

• Work in a 42-bed Medical/Surgical unit at a 400-bed Level II Trauma hospital
• Night shift schedule: 7p–7a (3x12-hour shifts)
• Option to work a 36 or 48-hour weekly contract based on traveler preference
• Patient ratios of 1:6 to 1:7
• Telemetry experience utilized on unit
• Oncology-related skills including chemotherapy administration, monitoring, and port access are a plus
• This is a do-not-call facility — please do not contact the facility directly
• Former permanent staff are ineligible for travel roles for 10 years after their last date of employment
• After 2 consecutive contracts, travelers must take a 6-month break before returning (exceptions considered on a case-by-case basis)
• Completion of facility compliance modules is required prior to starting; note that 8+ hours of modules are non-billable

Requirements

• Active Alabama (AL) RN license or compact license currently in hand
• Certifications required: BLS; ACLS preferred
• Minimum 1 year of Med/Surg RN experience required
• Experience in large healthcare facilities strongly preferred
• Travel nursing experience preferred; candidates with substantial experience may be considered
• Skills in IV therapy/phlebotomy and port access/management are relevant to this role
• Candidates must reside more than 90 miles from the facility — locals are not accepted for this position
• Two professional references required for consideration
