Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Pediatric Cardiovascular ICU (CVPICU) position at a Beacon Award-winning, Magnet-designated Level I Trauma Center requiring at least 2 years of Peds Cardiac ICU experience and an active SC or Compact RN license.
Details
- 29-bed Pediatric Cardiovascular ICU (CVPICU) within a Level I Trauma Center, Magnet-designated, academic teaching hospital
- Cares for patients with congenital heart disease of any age, with a blend of cardiac surgical and medical diagnoses; average daily census of 26
- Common procedures include cardiac surgery, Ventricular Assist Devices (VAD), heart transplant, cardiac catheterization, and medical cardiac diagnoses
- Unit provides ventilatory support, cardiac support, ECMO, CRRT, and other complex supportive therapies
- Pediatric palliative care available as needed
- Patient ratio is 1:1 or 1:2 based on acuity
- All CVPICU beds are monitored beds
- Night shift: 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
- Requires 4 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule with holiday rotation
- Floating within scope may be required to meet facility needs
- No on-call requirements
- Charting via Epic
Requirements
- Active SC RN license or Compact/Multi-State RN license required; candidates with a pending SC license may be considered
- Required certifications (AHA only): PALS and BLS
- Preferred certification (AHA only): ACLS
- Minimum 2 years of Pediatric Cardiac ICU experience required
- Cardiovascular and pediatric nursing experience required
- VAD experience highly preferred
- SSN and Driver's License required for consideration
- 2 professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration
Additional Information
- This unit is a Gold Beacon Award-winning CVPICU and has been recognized as #4 in the US News report and #1 in the nation for outcomes
- The CVPICU serves as the referral center for all major pediatric cardiac surgery in South Carolina
- Staffing team includes RNs, Patient Care Technicians, and Unit Secretaries, with ancillary support from Respiratory Therapy, Pediatric Dietitians, and Pediatric Pharmacists
- Completion of online modules is required prior to the start of the assignment (approximately 4 hours)
- Candidates residing within 60 miles of the facility are considered local; non-local candidates are prioritized
- Previous permanent or PRN staff of the MUSC system must have been separated for at least 1 year before being eligible to work as a traveler
- Travel pairs are not accepted for this position
- All RTO requests must be submitted at the time of consideration and are subject to approval based on unit needs
